CEBU, Philippines (August 29, 2008) – Midnight Movie, Bigfoot Entertainment’s first horror film, will be distributed in North America, Germany, Thailand and Japan. Further distribution opportunities may be negotiated at the upcoming Pusan and AFM film marts in Korea and L.A. taking place this October and November.

During Cannes in May, the film was sold by Arsenal, Bigfoot’s foreign sales agent, to KSMGMBH in Germany, Right Beyond in Thailand and Peace Arch Entertainment in North America. In mid-July, E-net/Geo bought the film for video release in Japan.

Midnight Movie was completed in April after being shot in L.A. and edited in Cebu, Philippines. The slasher film is set in a run-down theater in a sleepy, suburban town. A group of friends attend a midnight screening of a 1970s cult horror film and heckle the old black-and-white scenes. The film turns deadly when the killer emerges from the screen to hunt down each viewer one-by-one.

Jack Messitt, director, and Kris Villarino, head editor, created the film as an homage to ‘80s slasher films, purposefully creating a scary, funny duality. Traditional special effects were used and iconic scenes from cult classics were recreated to provoke a nostalgic reaction from horror movie fans.
