CEBU, Philippines (July 17, 2008) - On Thursday, July 10th, Tiki Bar hosted the inaugural night of TiKi oN FiRE, an entertainment/music series to continue on the last Friday of every month. Hundreds turned out for the live music and break dance show at the waterfront venue on Bigfoot Entertainment’s property.

The event's producer, Jazmine Valte, commented on the success of the evening, "the response to the event is so strong that Tiki events will become more regular... we are going to have nights where a few bands jam out, a karaoke night is in the works, as are screenings... also, guest DJ's."

Entertainment included musical performances by CMDC, Zarah Smith and Baldi, a break dance show by Bad Company, spinning by DJ Bangin of Junior Kilat, "street art" by Ubec Crew and a flame twirler.

TiKi oN FiRE is a new music series, sponsored by Bigfoot Events, to take place the last Friday of every month at Tiki Bar. This series aims to support local artists by providing a venue that promotes collaboration and allows them to showcase their talents.

All three bands that performed are from Cebu City. CMDC plays dancehall reggae and has recently released their second full-length album "Water for Your Soul." Their first album "How Are You World?" was released in 2005 and got significant radio airtime throughout the Philippines. In 2006, CDMC was featured on the regional MTV station and won the Motorola School of RockMoto competition. The band created the official Motorola Jingle for December 2006, "Motorola 12 Days of Christmas," which aired throughout the country.

Zarah Smith band has been together for three years and fuses music from many genre including jazz, blues and trip hop. The band released "Unraveling" in 2006 and will be releasing their second album, "Family Tree," later this year.

Bad Company, a local break dance crew, formed a few months ago when a group of award-winning dancers from different dance crews met during an International Academy of Film and Television student film project and at a local competition. The group has five members from Cebu and one from Germany. On July 10th, the group performed to one of CMDC's songs.

DJ Bangin, who spins for Junior Kilat, was on the turntables at the event. Junior Kilat is a reggae/ska band based in Cebu with popularity reaching throughout the Philippines. The band won a "Song of The Year Award" at NU-107's Rock Awards and has released several albums, the latest being "Buwad Suka Sili."

Ubec Crew is a collaboration of local artists who aim to raise awareness of the art community in Cebu. These artists created a "street art" mural on the stage. The group has been involved with demonstrations at Bob Marley Day and an event at Loft sponsored by Converse and Microsoft.

Tiki Bar, an outdoor venue situated on the waterfront, has been gaining momentum as a sought after nightlife destination since its inception in April 2007. It has become a place to see and be seen as far as the Cebu arts community is concerned. Located on the Bigfoot Entertainment/International Academy of Film and Television campus, the bar inherently has a clientele of international and local up-and-coming actors and filmmakers.

Tiki Bar is open Monday through Saturday from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. The menu changes almost daily, the fare varying from American-style barbeque to Vietnamese. Tiki Bar is located at Saac II Road, Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City 6015, between the airport and Mactan Shrine.
